Duties / Job description: As the result of a retirement, the City of Clear Lake seeks a Library Director. Clear Lake (pop.7,777) is home to one of Iowa’s largest natural lakes and boasts a strong tourism and recreation-based economy.

Under the general supervision of a 7-member Board of Trustees, the Library Director provides administrative and managerial oversight of the Library. The Director plans, organizes, directs, evaluates and reviews the Library’s resources, personnel, facilities, services and programs to respond to the needs of the community.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited university or college is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of professional librarian experience, with two (2) years of administrative and supervisory experience at management level preferred. Successful prior experience as a public library Director or Assistant Director is desirable.

Will out of state candidates be considered?

Salary Range: $45,000 – $50,000 (+/-) depending on education and experience
