As the premier organization representing rural and small libraries, ARSL recognizes the uniqueness of small and rural libraries and is committed to providing an environment that encourages excellence within this community of practice, supporting their goals of service and speaking on behalf of this important constituency.
The Association for Rural & Small Libraries provides resources and support that empower those in small and rural libraries to deliver excellent service for their communities.
STRATEGIC GOALS IN PRIORITY ORDER
Votes BY 2019, WE HAVE:
12 Additional revenue streams that support the organization beyond the conference.
11 ARSL has an employee or someone in the new association management company who helps to carry out the organization’s business.
9 Three years of conference contracts signed.
9 A presence in each state’s library association.
8 Members in all 50 states and all 50 states represented at the conference.
6 All 50 state libraries are institutional members.
6 A “Bible” (guidebook) for each committee.
3 We know our member retention rate and it is 75%
2 Achieved a 50% member increase since 2016 (1400 members in 2019)
1 An electronic journal on Rural and Small Libraries
Double the number of states that provide conference scholarships (from 18 to 36)
Largest conference ever in 2019 (750 registered)
Funding for an annual board retreat.
An ARSL Mover and Shaker every year
Every library/information school (47) has an ARSL student chapter.
We have established an awards program.
