The Board of Trustees of the Ada Public Library seeks an empowering, energetic, and enthusiastic leader to serve as Library Director. Located just 65 miles south of Toledo, and 80 miles southwest of Columbus, Ada offers the charm of a small town. In 2016, residents demonstrated their commitment to the library by passing a renewal levy by over 75%!
The Library currently functions in a 6,700 square foot building, but is preparing for a renovation of the Library, and an addition to the existing space. The Library is made up of two full time staff (the Director and Youth Services Coordinator) and 5 part time staff. The Ada Public Library’s circulation, door count, program attendance, and Summer Reading numbers have seen a surge the last few years, due to the wide range of programming for all ages, along with traditional library services.
Required skills include:
Masters of Library Science degree (Comparable work experience will be considered) Three or more years of professional library leadership experience preferred Collaborative, empowering leadership style Professional demeanor and interpersonal skills Enthusiasm for engaging local organizations, businesses, and schools as partners in community outreach Experience with budgeting and monthly billing; ability to prepare and maintain a balanced budget Proficiency in researching and writing grants Understanding of ready reference and reader’s advisory Experience with collection development Knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and library databases
Oversee all aspects of public service operations and develops an environment that ensures consistent, courteous and responsive service to all internal and external contacts. Review and lead implementation of procedures and standards concerning emerging technologies, library trends, public services developments, and online applications. Develop and implement effective library policies and procedures as related to areas of responsibility. Accomplish financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, ensuring best value is achieved with all purchases by researching competitive pricing and negotiating discounts with vendors, analyzing budget variances and initiating corrective action as needed. Coach and counsel staff in leadership skills, management practices, and conflict resolution. Hire and trains staff. Oversee community partnerships. Work with Board of Trustees Building Committee in management of the building, building maintenance, and space development. Oversee outsourcing of Tech support as needed. Collaborate with staff to coordinate and produce large events for the Library. Manage consulting and contractual relationships in the areas of operation. Coordinates the review, selection, budgeting, and purchasing of all library materials. Plan all adult programing, assist with Children’s & Teen Programs as needed, especially during Summer Reading. Perform data analysis and create reports for local and state needs. Prepare monthly reports for the Board of Trustees. Design and develop continuous learning strategies for both staff and patrons. Keep informed of current information and trends at the local, regional, and state library level. Serve on internal, local, regional and statewide committees. Maintain presence in the social media community including: library website, Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, and various listservs Maintain a healthy working relationship with the Friends of the Ada Public Library. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Details: Full Time Hours: 40 hours/week Benefits include: Insurance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave, as well as enrollment in the Ohio Public Employment Retirement System (OPERS). Full Time Hours: 8a.m.-5p.m. M-F, with occasional nights and Saturdays
Salary: Starting range: $43,000 +DOQ; Based on qualifications and experience
