ARSL is short for the Association for Rural & Small Libraries. Development is attributed to Dr. Bernard Vavrek, in his tenure at Clarion University as Director of the Center for Rural Studies and was formed in recognition of the unique needs, challenges, and strengths that rural and small libraries possess. It is a now a network of people dedicated to the positive growth of rural and small libraries and a collection of resources relevant to member needs. Becoming a member of ARSL means that you join a responsive network of people that understand rural community issues and are eager to share information, ideas, help you problem solve, and connect you with the right information. ARSL gives you a voice in national and state issues, leadership, resources, and a dynamic conference catered to all types of libraries situated in rural communities. To join ARSL, you will be asked to create a new account on our registration site and then directed to visit the Online Store to purchase your membership. You can request an invoice be mailed to you for your membership or pay on the site using a credit card. After you become a registered member, you will be added to ARSL’s members-only listserv.
Our listserv is open to members only and as a benefit to your membership dues. At the time of your membership registration, you will be automatically signed up for the listserv. You should receive a notification shortly after registration. If you do not, you can email Kristine Masters at email@example.com and she will take care of your request.

Board meetings are held every other month using an online conferencing system and are open to membership.
This year Board Meetings will be held on Dec. 21, Jan 18, March 15, May 17, and July 19 online and then on September 10 at the conference in St. George, UT
For the meetings held online we use the Zoom platform at 10:30 am Central time.
